A recession is looming.  It happens.

After years of massive economic growth it was bound to happen soon.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

I don't HAVE a job. I lost it before this crapstorm blew up because of the council being assholes. This just means I have no chance of getting it BACK, or of getting another one.

Mmmm, I agree to an extent, but the immigrants are just in a word needed.

What I blame is the school culture that if you don't go to uni your a waste of fucking space.  That really winds me up, and as a result, every other twat wants to be either a PE teacher or a pshycologist.  Am not knocking those professions, but theres been a shift from the basic day to day running of a country to conviences.  Of course everyones aspirations will increase with every generation, but as it stands, we are having to import people to take care of these jobs that are being neglected, and there doing it for much less.

Aside from the global credit crunk, theres knowone to blame but ourselfs for the situation.

Well, you pretty much HAVE to go to uni, or you can't get a job. A-levels and GCSEs ain't worth shit these days, and if you don't have a degree, they just bin your application straight off.

So...why didn't you go to university?  A degree is more or less essential these days imo.

right and wrong. You do need one because everyone else has them and it makes you level on the field. What makes you more marketable depends on what your degree is in.

Wasnt it the BBC panorma that did a study school leavers compaired to those who went off to uni.  Couldnt give specific details off the top of my head, but think am right in saying only 2 out of the 10 that went to uni where doing better than there old school friends.  The 5 school leavers had comparible earnings with 3 of the uni guys.  A result that is echoed around the country.  Credit to anyone who could stomach any more education after high school (I certainly couldnt) but for me, there seems to be this culture that if you go to uni, you are pretty much set for life.  And it simply isnt the case.

Even on a personal level, mate of mine after completing his course has so much debt, he will be well into his 30s before his worth starts overtaking your average fairly well educated individual.  Assuming he can get a friggen job like the OP states.

Indeed.  They way i see it where you went, what you got and what you did are all factored into the degree equation in that order.

Where i work everyone seems to have at least 2, Degree and Masters/MBA.  That doesn't include the shitload of professional qualifications that are offered as well.

Too right it ain't the case.

I went to uni.

Where am I now?

Unemployed. That's where.

But then, whether I'd been to uni or not would have made no difference to the reasons why I'm unemployed...

And, for me, it means it's probably a bad time to be starting up as self-employed...

But then, I don't have much choice...

You can be a pilot in the RAF with just 2 A levels and 5 GCSE's. They're on good money as well as having what I would class as a great job.

Better yet, you could sit on your ass, vote democrat and get the govt. to support ya, then bitch up a storm about all of your self induced problems ( like your credit rating) when you find they aren't doing enough for your lazy ass. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, Gob Bless America and God Save the Queen and the liberals/Socialists

I worded it wrong. I meant the dollar will still be 2X or more as much as the pound when it does.

But the point still stands

Cold hell-hole? What deployment is that? I think every place the RAF is deployed is warmer than England.
