Not having extra money to spend indicates that you don't earn much or save much; it does not mean that you are poor. Poor means having to do without things you need because you can't afford them. Hint - coffee and scones are not necessities.
If you really want to know what poor means, go volunteer at a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter, a battered women's shelter, a local bread-basket...
Lastly, if you really want to claim you're poor, go ask your parents and see what they have to say about it. I'm guessing they'll be disappointed in your assessment.
