so my sister goes to USC, and every time they go to the rose bowl, they have a raffle for everybody with season tickets for the student section. the winners get two tickets for the student section at the rose bowl, because seating is extremely limited (almost everybody wins). anyways, last year she won and we drove down and went to the game.

she won again this year, and we went again. this time, though, she went down on Monday for a new year's party that my parents aren't allowed to know about (read: blackmail). of course, being underage and her brother there was no way i could go with her to that party, so i flew down yesterday morning. i woke up at 3 AM (fell asleep at 2), left the house by 3:45 for my flight at 5:00 AM.

this is what i learned from this trip: never ever ever ever ever ever wear anything with a sports team or school logo present while going through security.

who "randomly" selects a 17 year old kid at 4:30 in the morning who can barely keep his eyes open when his mother is fucking 20 feet away watching him go through security (read: not a terrorist), who has no fucking luggage aside from a book and an mp3 player? this big ass black guy is working the medal detector, takes my ticket, waves me forward from the machine, notices my USC shirt, puts his hand down to stop me, gives me this funny look like he can't decide something, and then mumbles something. if he hadn't waved his arm in the direction of the extra search area I'd have tried to continue forward and that would have been arrest or something, judging by this guy.

then i got searched by the captain of the emos, not the kind of person i want touching my goddamn body, thanks.

solution? all TSA agents who randomly select people for in-depth search should be blind. a machine could operate a thingy that beeps for them every time a person walks by. then, if they wanted to search the person, they could just stop him, wave over the search dude, take the guy to the search place, and be done with it.

but why are you so sure it was because of your school? I bet they didn't say that?... so I guess its just a guess because he looked down rather than just in your face? You want it too be random? Its there job to pick out anything that stands out as different from the norm. Terrorists would love random.... just send enough bomb covered nutters onto a plane and good old random will make sure some get on!

When we went to Disney about 3 years ago my dad got randomly selected for that by Delta, sad part is, he is only 5 foot 10, bald, 62 years old, half asleep, etc. They take him off to a second room, leave him there while they are doing something else, 45 min later he comes back out. We missed the flight. No total refund, instead of the first class seats we payed for, we get stuck in the back of the plane by the engines.

i dunno, i just wanted to explain why i was flying in the first place, so nobody would have to ask later.

he looked in my face, and he glanced down for a second and then back up and gave me that look. its certainly possible that i'm jumping to conclusions, but the way he did it tells me otherwise.
