Hi guys,there is now a version of the WOoKie Sniper Mod (1.01). It includes some minor fixes, but big gameplay changes:

After playing for a few hours on our full 20-player server, me and Dibbie agreed that we could never make the spotter class truly useful. That's why we've decided to scrap the class altogether.

As it is now, sniping is frustrating because you can't spot, it's hard to find targets unless they're standing on top of a mountain. And spotters can't relay their spotted information to the snipers because the attack markers are invisible (or very faint at least). So spotting is frustrating because you see the enemy but don't have a weapon to shoot him, and your squad members don't seem to notice him.

I'm restoring the flag / attack order icons, and the spotting ability. All snipers will now get:

1 - knife
2 - pistol
3 - sniper rifle (with rangefinder)
4 - smoke grenade
5 - tripwire flares
6 - binoculars (with rangefinder)

Gameplay over realism IMO.

Oh, and you have 15 clips of ammo instead of 7 now. To compensate for the scrapped spotter whores resupplying you all the time.

Simply fantastic... a LOT harder than vanilla, and frustrating when you get shot out of nowhere, but when you DO land a kill, its much more rewarding than in vanilla!

Change the respawn time. Waiting 15 seconds is too long when you're just playing for fun. That's probably more of a server complaint than a mod complaint. Other than that it was pretty fun. I couldn't work too much on figuring out where to aim because I couldn't fucking find anyone to shoot half the time.

I agree that its REALLY hard to spot people at long distances, unfortunately BF2 obviously wasnt meant for such long draw distances. Its a shame that the graphics start to come apart at the seams at these distances. Again, nice work EA.

I find it annoying to keep hitting dirt at distances exceeding 700+ metres when I think that they are on top of a mountain but infact are for 90% behind it and thus I am only hitting sand, and hitting the head at such distance is friggin hard.

However, that is not MOD related but more EA because the game wasn't designed for shots this far.

Just try again, my webserver is a bit, err well, 'special' at times. That's why it should be on ModJive soon, I've already emailed Sir Elxx about it.

Oh, and did I tell FileFront is being a bitch as always? If anyone knows how to fix this 'Oversized.Zip Virus detected' error feel free to post.

Edit - I just tested and the file I uploaded is fine, must've been my quick replacement of the mod zip this afternoon when I found out I accidentally packed some buggy python scripts into it. So, just re-download and it should be fine.
