Yes and no. My AP Biology teacher said that his classmate in college engineered a form of HIV that was ten times as virulent. My teacher is an incompetent windbag, but he does know a lot about biology so I wouldn't doubt its truth. The first form of AIDS was natural though.

It's a virus that attacks the immune system. That is what makes it so deadly. If something like this was engineered it would have been used with a controlled release (or attack) rather than the spread which the virus has had.

There is no AIDS virus you idiot. It's HIV that is the virus and it is believed (and challenged) that AIDS is CAUSED by the HIV virus. But then AIDS has a very wide and politically motivated definition.

Doubt it,..

Story tells that it was transferred from chimps to humans by cross-species blood transfusions when they ran out of transfusion blood in a conflict situation in Africa. They used chimp blood as a last resort as the species are so much alike. As cyclists are known to inject themselves with veal-blood as a form of doping (veal blood can hold more oxigen), chimps blood should definitely, at least to some degree, be compatible with the human body.

Sounds like a possible way for a virus to be effectively transferred from one species to another, but I seriously doubt if it's true. I think the HIV virus just evolved naturally and was transferred from one species to another by normal interaction.

Theres no hiv virus you idiot. Abbr. stands for "Human immunodeficiency virus", therefore it's HI-Virus or simply HIV.

Anyway I don't think it was engineered because only some decades ago they didn't know shit about genetics.
