As you can see in this video, this pilot is wearing glasses and I thought that you are not allowed to be wearing glasses when becoming a pilot. Would anyone explain it to me how this pilot is allowed to wear glasses?

Well, looks like you are allowed. Maybe they're very weak glasses.
Hahaha he got fucked up.
And maybe the air force is desperate for people now? I have a friend who recently got into the air force and he wears glasses. I think it might just be if you're color blind, not bad eyesight.

i've got -1 vision and i might still be able to go in. I'm supposed to wear glasses but i dont. I talked to a recruiter one day and he said the militiary was giving out free laser eye surgery. He also said he was soon going to get laser eye surgery himself. I was so happy when i heard that.
I know you can't wear glasses when you join, but when you've been in for atleast a year or month or something, they don't care. You need 20/20 vision to join in Canada.
I'm guessing contacts aren't allowed either?
Well, sign me up..
No. I always thought you needed 20/20 vision without any assistance (Glasses too) I guess they changed that..firebolt5 wrote:

You've always been allowed to join the military with glasses, as long as it can be corrected to 20/20 with glasses. Not so sure about contacts... all I've heard is you don't want them on when you go into the gas chamber.
The USAF and the air divisions of the Navy, USMC, and Army might require perfect vision for flight jobs... but every branch has more than just flight jobs.
edit: Haven't you guys seen countless photos of recruits in basic training with those ugly-ass glasses on?

If at any point you need glasses through training you can no longer continue to be a pilot or co-pilot. If you are already a pilot then I'm not sure what happens. My friend who trained be a pilot had to do air traffic control in the end as half way through training he did indeed need glasses.
I know you cant fly without depth perception. sux2bme
Heh, yes, don't they call them BC glasses? Birth control glasses...HurricaИe wrote:

For the USAF, you need decent vision 20/70, correctable to 20/20, for a pilot slot.
However, the USAF offers PRK, LASIK and gives waivers to some people. (Hopefully, me.)

I thought it was for fighter jets and other aircraft that requires a full helmet. Like the Euro fighter Jet and Helmet.
