Do you believe that an endless existance (i.e. your immortal) would become stale and boring, or do you believe that you could keep yourself entertained for all eternity?

Personally, I believe I could keep myself entertained for the span of evolution then I would get bored, but would still love to explore the universe and all its wonders. So in short I could probably keep myself entertained for an eternity.

I have no doubt I could keep myself entertained.

Just think about the vast amount of knowledge you would gain...

I don't know that I would want to exist beyond the heat death of the universe.  That would be really boring.

Regardless, If you had all the time in the world, what motivation do you have to do anything at all?

I would have motivation to do waht pleased me. And when I said endless existance I mean that the universe would remain at a constat or accelerate at a decreasing interval making the universe finite without consequence of heat death.

You could do whatever pleases you -- until you got bored of that.  Besides, outliving everyone and everything that means something to me would be horrible.  I don't know I would want to watch my kids die of old age while I live forever.

I dream of having this, though I believe that without some kind of extraordinary powers, endlessness would become stale. Sure, it'd be difficult watching people you're close to die, but the ability to have a consciousness that spanned the centuries and millenia would be so fantastic as to be indescribable.

i was reading that heat death thing and i read the quote under the photon picture... how can they evaporate if there is no sunlight?

Black holes evaporate through Hawking Radiation.

This happens when a partcle and its anti-particle come into existence, through the magic of quantum mechanics, very close to the event horizon of a black hole, and one half of the pair falls into the black hole.  The remaining particle then moves in the opposite direction and takes energy away from the black hole as "Hawking Radiation".  However, this effect has never been verified experimentally, and is still theoretical.

Would be nice to live a couple hundred years, but after that it would get boring as fuck.
