I am thinking about buying a laptop... Dell or HP.  What is needed to run BF2 with medium quality?
Thanks!

Don't get a laptop to play BF2. I don't need to explain why.

Chances are any mid-range laptop you get ($500+) will be able to run BF2 on medium settings these days, doesn't matter on the brand. I would recommend HP from experience of screens lasting longer.

lol, two more years and BF2 will run on cell phones

Vista may slow things down, but I play 100% view distance, med geometry and low with 80 FPS still...

do not get a laptop with integrated video - it wont play bf2 well, especially intel integrated video which wont play bf2 at all.  Look for something with an ATI or Nvidia video with its own ram.

here is a comparison list:   http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Gra … 844.0.html

I have a Geforce-go 7800gtx and it plays bf2 no problem with good frame rates even at 1920x1200.  I usually play at 1280x800 because 1920x makes some stuff to hard to see - and 1280 is still 16:10 which matches my 17" widescreen.

yeah, i've got a dell laptop that's a year old and it runs BF2 just fine.
And COD4,
and any source game
and WiC, CoH, Oblivion, or... practically anything out now. I haven't struggled yet.

2Ghz C2D processor
GeForce 7900Go (actually performs better than 8600 Go)
2GB ram....
yeah. cost me 2K, but hey... i wanted it.

are you planning to get a screen and keyboard, so you can just plug it into them when your home?

Nope.  Maybe plug it into my Plasma every once in a while....  Well I guess I shouldn't just say nope.... 99.9% probably not.  How's that?

I bought a Dell Vostro 1500 with a GeForce 8400GS and I can play BF2 well enough on medium settings.

I have a Dell Inspiron with X1400 Mobility (hyper memory): terrible graphics card, but I can play bf2 well enough so that's fine. Also, I can play games like Oblivion if I turn everything down to pretty much zero.

The good thing about Dells is that you can customise them a little. HPs usually come with integrated chipsets so don't get those.

Why would you want a laptop at all?
