Here in the US, there are many different ages of consent. They vary by state. But why would you lower the age after 50 years?

Well, one might see it as a measure to prevent kids from being secretive about pregnancies or sexually transmitted diseases acquired from illicit nookie. I don't know if lowering the age of consent is as good as alternatives like providing a government run service offering anonymous conversations with youth councillors, or simply providing better education. Kids are going to have sex regardless of ages of consent, but it somehow seems like an endorsment to lower them simply because they're being violated.
