Do you understand what the term ILLEGAL means? They unlawfully entered the EU and they shall be shipped back to wherever they came from at the earliest opportunity. EU healthcare and welfare benefits are for EU citizens and EU citizens only. You might want to try a similar tack in the US - there is overwhelming support for it but your government seems to be as soft as shit on the matter.

There is no room for compassion where matters of the law and matters of precedent are concerned. I'm sick of the number of illegals clawing their way into the country 8 months pregnant trying to construct a decent sob story for when the immigration officers arrive.

Do you agree with Mexican illegal immigrants doing same in the US?

Illegal immigrants are just that. They do not pay taxes, and do not usually greatly contribute to a country's wealth. Yes, they're human, but why don't they try getting health care in their own countries? Or immigrate legally.

I think the doctors in the article misunderstand their role. Doctors can't grant asylum. That is the government's responsibility. If the government chooses to deport an illegal immigrant, the doctors can say fuck-all about it. The doctors can (and should, per the Hippocratic Oath) treat someone in that situation as best they can...right up until they are deported.

it's not the UK's fault that Ghana does not have the capabilities to fund life-prolonging dialysis for its citizens. As unfortunate as it may seem, that woman's medical condition should not play a role in deciding on her status as an illegal immigrant, and subsequent deportation. Why should UK citizens pay with their taxes for a treatment for someone who will be deported eventually anyway ?

I mean, it's not like the UK doesn't have enough problems with their own citizens, is it ?

And of course it is sad and ethically wrong from a doctor's point of view, but they have it easy. They are not the ones who will be asked to pay for that treatment.
