UHC is a system that must be implemented over a period of time, you cant just switch over night thus the expenses of UHC will be spend over the same period of time not all at once ... common misconception.

And you really can't afford not to switch to UHC seeing as the private sector costs way more.

Taxes must be raised, all goods will have to cost more for a period of time and the general population must understand that solidarity is a must for this to work, it's not to late it's all about willpower to do the right thing ...

Illegal aliens is a huge problem i agree, maybe even more of a problem in the US than elsewhere, better border control will solve just a tiny fracture of the problem - integrating the ones that are already there making them law-abiding taxpaying citizens rather than a burden is more important.

Social systems to get welfare recipients back to work will also yield more tax dollars, educating the poor to get jobs just the same and last but not least to stimulate small businesses that are the backbone of any society ...

You might say it looks like a social revolution but that might be just what you guys need to get back on your feet.

With a debt of $53 trillion dollars you can't just reboot and start over ATG, it takes courage and willpower from both government and the population.

Just do it !

Spending money on healthcare services saves you money - easy as that .... and the overspending in the defence sector we sure do agree on

I think you misunderstand something about the economy and when the government had a healthy policy on the matter with later growth in mind and when the population in general had a good economy, there is a huge difference between the two ... when the first is in place the second comes as a result ...
I disagree. I believe in capitalism and free markets. If the pharmaceutical companies had to really compete with each other, they would offer better products at more reasonable costs. The Prescription Drug Benefit gives out subsidies to drug companies, but has the price gone down? By covering their loses, they don't have much an incentive to compete.

Since health care is a right in some countries, you sometimes have ridiculous waiting lines (even for serious stuff) and sub-par health care (not that we don't either). People from Canada come down the US for treatment if they can afford it. I think in the long run socialized health care will be more of a problem than you folks in the EU think.

You portrayed the economy being stellar, or at least acceptable, under the last 3 democrat administrations compared to the republicans when in reality you are stretching the truth. The truth is our policy is to spend now, think about it... never. The link I posted, if you read it, shows you just how much projected debt we will have because of entitlements. UHC will just add to that.

But maybe I should it make it clearer though. 1.) I don't know how many times I've said this, but we spend way too much and can't afford it. 2.) Our gov is not very good at spending, so what makes you think UHC will be any different? We borrow money out of social security to help pay for the war and other things. What message does that tell you?

I don't care if socialized health care can magically fix our health care problems, if we can't afford it then we can't afford it. You can't max all your credit cards and let the bills pile up forever  and never pay them can you? Neither can our government, regardless if you think UHC is a good policy and will lead to a healthy economy, which it won't. You don't seem to be aware of the real issues why our economy is in tough shape and why things ain't lookin' so good down the road.

If you wanna help the economy, we can stop our reckless spending and excessive money printing. 70% of our GDP is based on consumer purchasing, and a weaker dollar = less purchasing power. Simple as that. A weaker dollar makes everything more expensive, including health care, so we can start right there. But in the course we are taking, the gov won't be able to provide UHC, or our other social services, so it is out the question.

You talking about tax evasion?

Call it what you will.
The government is guilty of moral evasion.

There is a double standard here, trying playing by the rules and see how far it gets you.

True. Same over here. Politicians are always getting away with this and that. As do big corporations. The normal man will always get the biggest shaft for everything.

One set of rules for us and a different set for them.
