Are you and or your girlfriend bi? Cause that's the only excuse you have to be buying a mac... If not bi, I'm suggesting flaming.

No thanks Apple, I'd rather buy a Crysis-eating machine and an HDTV.
Seriously, thin looks and an SSD are ncie and all but not for that price.
Intel have licensed the technology used in the Air to PC laptop developers. Expect to see equally slimline (though perhaps not as sleek and pretty) proper laptops soon.
Thank god.Bertster7 wrote:

Pfft, MacBook Air....
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
Epic, epic fail of a machine.

Wow, do I detect some anti-mac feelings in this topic. Nevertheless people that buy a MacBook Air most of the time realize what they 'lose'.
I for an instance wouldn't have a problem with no optical drive and wireless.
I'll just stick with my MacBook Pro...
I'll take a thinkpad X300 instead. Not as feature deprived and still cheaper. Plus I've always loved the "srs bzns" look to the thinkpads

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
I honestly do not see the point in the "uber skinny" thing that Apple is trying to push for. It's ultrathin, yes, but it's not a fucking ultraportable. The Sony TZ is an ultraportable. Why? Smaller footprint. It's only about 10" width compared to almost 13" on the Air. I'd say that's more important than how thin something is.
Apple didn't need another 13.3" notebook, it should've tried to make a true ultraportable, with more ports, detachable battery, and smaller footprint. The whole, let's solder on the RAM, HDD, and Battery was a bad decision IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I suppose it does look nice, and the fact it's so thin is also nice; but that shouldn't have been the top priority for the people at Apple. I mean, ffs, for just a few hundred more with the base model of the Air, you could get two Macbooks or one Macbook Pro, both of which have more ports, better performance, and aren't that thick either (Macbook Pro is only 1" I believe). Honestly, the X300 that max pointed out is a much better buy (at least when it comes out).

Its just soooo hot. I would buy it even with a voodoo 3 gfx card and intel celeron 660.Smithereener wrote:

Yup, I just walked out of there with my boss and he is going to buy three for our office. We will use them when we travel on business because it is becoming increasingly hard to lug a laptop through airport security. With the amount of crap I carry on a trip not having 15lbs worth of laptop, mouse, psu, portable hd, cds, etc would so nice.
