Which of these will perform better?

A 3.0 gthz Hyper Threaded Intel
Two gigs of dell ram, at 533 mhtz
an Nvidia 7950 GT 512 MB DDR3
a POS 160 GB Hard drive.
some pos dell Mother Board

or a: dell XPS laptop m1530 with:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 (2MB cache/2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB)
Vista
3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT

additionally, how will the laptop do at games? I own the above desktop, wondering If I should try to sell it for a bit of money or just keep it.

lol, its supposed to be 256 Mbs, my bad, copy pasted wrong, lol.
I wouldn't get the laptop till the begining of summer. august at the latest, so if they were equal I would be happy, as a lap top is a laptop, obviously, lol. I was thinking, laptop has better everything except for video card, didn't know what the difference will be, I figure by the time I buy it it will have somewhat better specs than it does now, which is a plus.

They're about equal.

The lappy's got a slightly better CPU, but the desktop's graphics card is far superiour.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Theyre about equal but because of the 8600M in the laptop the desktop will still perform better in (graphics intensive) games.

Wow. That's pretty close.

I'd say the second one because of the bigger hdd but that is splitting hairs. You couldn't go wrong with either one.

Okay, new question. I have around 1,600 dollars for a laptop, whats the best I could get? I would like it too play games (hopefully as well as the afore mentioned desktop) but not necessarily. What would you guys recommend?
BTW, the dell apparently has a 3Dmark 06 rating/ points whatever of 4366 from a review I read.
Additionally, it seems that I would be better to keep the desktop for games and get a laptop for what i need it for- college, and get 2 gigs of good ram and a new hard drive for my current PC. So as far as a laptop for classes and so forth, but still powerful, what do you guys think? I could do 1,700 and get an apple air, those looks awesome, but wondering what else is out there.
