Hey, I'm just thinking, that maybe, the n00bish Fliers out here on BF2s could get together some time and Try and learn to fly, I'll run a Dedi game server and a TS server, We'll have people go 2 at a time in an unranked server and we can all learn how to fly and shoot at the same time

My original idea was just asking for someone to a) be a target for me to shoot, and b) someone else to be gunner.

But yeah, thought it'd be cool to make this like a learning group type thing, anyone else in?

I Live in Kits,

I'm thinking to set the time around 9 Pacific tommorow,

I'm also thinking of making some Epic BF2 edition of "Red vs Blue" But I phail at writing scripts, so I'll act, I'll run the servers, I'll record, if someone else writes scrips and does voiceovers(As well as more actors)
There don;t seem to be any good Machnima for BF2, there's one, but it only has 2 episodes as far as I know.

Nope, since it's a learning type thing, it's gonna be Unranked, that way when we crash 300 times from learning, it doesn't kill our KDR's(Take a look at my KDR History chart, that big dip is when I tried to learn to fly on ranked servers)

I might not be able to do this tomorrow though, I planned on running the server on my moms laptop, But it's at her friends house and she might not get it back by tomorrow. So yeah, I'll post the Official dates/times when I figure them out.

We should make this some form of program.... like a weekly thing.
I'll run the servers, but other people have to host(IE, tell people what to attempt to bomb, etc.)

Instead of telling people what to bomb, why not get some people to hand around in tanks and hummers to serve as stationary/moving/evading ground targets? If it's unranked, nobody's KDR get hurt!

I'd be up for it, I need practice at not slamming into things and targeting bombs. And some at air-to-air combat with missiles.
Hell, I just need to get used to the HUD. I grew up playing WW2 flight sims, I just need some hours in jets.

best way to learn is to just join a server with only a few people. fly around and you'll get better. trying to create a noob-friendly environment isn't really worth it.

I gotta agree with this. This whole exercise is honestly a waste of time. I'm not saying it won't be fun to do, but you won't really be developing any real skills.

Learning the mechanics of how the plane moves is by far the easiest part of flying and honestly hardly takes any time at all.

Learning what to do in the different maps and how to react to the various situations in a public server with all the variables that means is what makes someone a good pilot.

My advice would be to read the guides (MOBB's guide and Zenmaster's guide are all you need to start with) and then just go for the planes every time. You'll take abuse from people calling you a nub and telling you to let the more experienced pilots take the planes, blah blah blah, etc. but if you really read the guides and apply the principles you'll already have a huge leg up on the standard pub nub that flys around no higher than 300 feet when they grab a plane.

Again...have your fun and hang out in your server if you like, but you're gonna have to take your lumps anyway and I don't think that this will do much to accelerate the learning process. Just my humble opinion based on my experience in the game.
