This is pretty fucked up, and while Ironchef may be correct that it happens in more than just Communist countries, China is one of the biggest offenders about this sort of thing.

From a proponent of abortion, that is one of the most obscene cases on the planet. Even barring the fact that the couple was together, happy, and wanting the baby, how the hell could the authorities have managed to wait until the last day to do the abortion? All the emotional attachment at that point, unless you're just trying use fear tactics against your population that kind of practice is obscene at that point.

Besides, Communism is one of those "looks great on paper" ideas that doesn't amount to anything positive in reality. We really dropped the ball when we let Chiang Kai-Shek fall to the revolution. We should have supported him. At least, his version of oppression amounted to more progress than the revolution did.
