lol the new special EA milenium bug 05/06
You'd think that EA would at least warn if they're scheduling downtime, or in the case of a server crash that they'd maybe say something on their website.
Corporate scum. I hate EA.
Corporate scum. I hate EA.
erm... just btw. the account server is a gamespy server itself. That's why we so often have problems with it and that's why noone is able to login now. Server is f*cked up again. Gamespy never had good servers as long as I remember. Look at theyr site, it's always slow. Yes they have a lot of traffic, but it's always(!) slow. The majority of large sites don't have such problems. Why? They have good servers. So DICE get you're own account servers and not gamespy, please!
O.o here in austria.. same thing..
Somebody probably found another way to get the Expert Explosive badge...
Can´t blame him...
Can´t blame him...
And btw. the game is not from EA, they simply published it. But it's true, EA is a huge publisher. Huge companies normally have a really bad customer service these days... DICE = nice company but not very good if it comes to customers + EA = $$$ + Gamespy = unable to get stable servers = BF2 = distaster, sadly for DICE.
yeah expert explosives in Gamespy server room... hope he goes expert knife on punkbuster to....
This is a public service announcement brought to you by Captain Haireola:
If BF2 gets stuck on the "Connecting to account server" thingamajigger, and you are unable to alt-tab out, rather than doing a hard boot I do the following:
1) CTRL+ALT+DELETE
2) click somewhere in the upper left quadrant (or wherever your task manager appears)
3) press B
4) hold down alt and press E
5) press enter
6) repeat until BF2 proc meets its maker, hopefully you won't kill anything terribly important
Or you could always have buttsecks. That usually works.

FIXED IT!
Here's what you do.....follow these steps:
1) Uninstall BF2 and SF
2) Uninstall any IM programs you have
3) Delete at least 5GB of pron from your computer (if you have less than 5GB, delete it all)
4) Uninstall Windows
5) Turn off your computer, unscrew your case, and take out every component one at a time...
6) Lightly kiss and caress your video and ethernet cards, telling them how much you love and need them, building their self esteem
7) Reassemble your computer, in reverse alphabetical order according to the name of the manufacturer of the part
8) Power up, reinstall Windows, IM programs, BF2, and use DC++ to retrieve all lost porn
9) Eureka! It works! No more database error!
-M
PS Yes I'm bored, and hopefully I get flamed when someone actually tries this... ::crosses fingers::

LOL... All of you who are complaining that they should warn you are priceless... I work for a mobile phone company here in the US, and was a tech support rep on the phones before I got my current position... That was one of the biggest things I heard...
Customer: "You should warn people before your services go down!!!"
Me: "But this was an unplanned outage"
Customer: "Then send something after the system went down"
Me: "What are we sending it to?"
Customer: "My phone"
Me: "But your phone had no signal so how exactly were you going to receive this?"
At this point customer usually realizes what a moron they are and calms down... but not here!!!! You guys will just find something else to complain about!!!!! I for one love playing BF2, and have suggested to 2 of my friends to get it...
The best part is that you are complaining about a FREE SERVICE!!!!!!!!! Yes, I admit you had to pay for the game, but do you pay a monthly fee TO EA (server admins are a different story)???? Then why should they care if you whine... And for all of you who do nothing other than complain about the game, I have this suggestion... Sell the damn thing on eBay and be done with it... I hate the point blank M203 (refuse to call them n00b-t00bs), the bunny hop, and all this other crap as much as you do, but you know what.... ADAPT AND OVERCOME... Then pwn everyone else...

Or even easier : Just disconnect your internet connection manually...
takes you back to the desktop pretty quickly...works in my case...

Yes, but that involves moving my rather large body and releasing any trapped gas that has seeped into my folds... a rather dangerous and unpleasant endeavor. I'll stick with the keyboard and mouse.HellHead wrote:

Chemwarrior: it's not a free service though is it. That's the point - we paid money for this, and now we can't play. Overall, and specifically with regard to BF2, EA has a track record of being shit. DICE may have made the game, yes, but I'm willing to bet money on it that EA pushed it out before it was ready, skipping essential playtesting and bug fixing in favour of making as much money as possible.
This latest server outage, along with the half-finished state of the game and the many other irritating bugs and glitches, is really just more of what we've come to expect from this company.
People are annoyed because they want to play this game. They want to find someone to blame. In my opinion, EA is the ideal target. Adapt and overcome? Ok. I will. When I can log back in and play. Until then, EA are on the receiving end whether they like it or not. That'll teach them to publish half-finished products.

Understood... But at the same time your target is misplaced this time... I think it was brought up earlier that getting this database error has absolutly nothing to do with EA... The account database is hosted by GameSpy... Now it's even better because you know its not the fault of the company that you are blaming... To relate back to my earlier example...AnarkyXtra wrote:

Customer: "I tried to call my banks 800 number and got a busy signal"
Me: "Have you tried calling from a landline phone?"
Customer: "Yeah. Same thing happened"
Me: "Please put your phone back in the box and take it to a store as you are obviously to stupid to own a cell phone"
You see my point?
And for anyone who is wondering I work for the "big pink T"
I'm just trying to say, please put blame where it belongs... This is not an EA issue... Its a GameSpy issue
