Oh so know you get to decide what is a religion and what is not a religion. Wanna step on sun worshippers while you are at it?LaidBackNinja wrote:

Now for some reason which is beyond me they've decided to suddenly fight the good fight? Armchair vigilantes to bring down the awful establishment that is Scientology?
Bullshit!
Anonymous doesn't give a crap about anything and I'm honestly disappointed that they've sucked so many people into their "good publicity" stunt. If they care so much about things of this nature there are so many other things to spend time on and better ways to do it. Celebrities and wacky religion? C'mon Anonymous, at least get behind something worthwhile, save the fucking whales if you want, from what I hear "Sea Shepard" are hiring complete nut-jobs to do irritating attacks on the Japs for them, I'm sure you'd fit right in.
By the way to correct a bit of misinformation I've seen, Scientology is a church, just a really fucked-up coo-coo-bananas one. The "Bible" was written by a science-fiction writer who admitted to wanting to invent a religion to earn fame and fortune, (Scientologists insist that this is misquoted but of course they would,) but is it so unlikely that other holy texts were not written by people just like L. Ron Hubbard? Scientology at it's core is only different from other mainstream religion because it's younger. It's bizarre I admit, but so is every other religion. Christians are adamant that Jesus will return, Scientologists insist that Brother Hubbard will return. Christians believe that God created everything in existence in six days, (he obviously invented the concept of a "day" fairly early on,) and made poor Noah sit in an Ark with two of every animal on earth and their leavings, (read: shit,) for 150 days! That can't be healthy!
And Scientologists believe an Alien Overlord by the name of Xenu vaporised a whole bunch of aliens in Earth's volcanoes. What is really the difference between this fucked-up belief and that fucked-up belief?
I've also seen Scientology blamed for sucking away people's money, lawsuits, blackmail and other nasties which don't have a shred of proof - okay maybe the money thing, there's no doubt in my mind that all Scientology really exists for is money for those who run it but so what right? I went to a Christian church meeting with my aunt, uncle and cousins once. It was one of those ones where people are speaking in tongues every now and then, being yelled at by a preacher, holding their arms heavenward with tears streaming down their face - pretty damn traumatising to anyone who wasn't trying to suppress fits of laughter the whole time. And the collection plates got passed around as they do, and holy shit! The amount of money people were leaving in there! Incredible! My Aunt etc. also payed the church ten percent of their household income! The day I was there I was 'lucky' enough to be treated to an exhibition of bullshit from a guest preacher, the collection plate was passed around for him too, same incredible amounts of money. I promise you, Scientology is not the only money-hungry religion.
So yes, Scientology is a money and power-hungry cult or church or whatever you want to call it but so is everything else! Scientology is not the worst, it's just gets publicity because it's a Hollywood fad. Countless crimes have been done in the name of religion. So far in Scientology's brief history we've had no Jihads, Crusades, mass slaughters or genocides in whatever-the-God-of-Scientology-is' name and in light of that HOW can you possibly say it's the worst?
Anonymous is a bunch of misguided and bored people. If you truly agree with their stupid little fight with Scientology then you've just been suckered into their tireless efforts to attempt to be significant.

Not completely correct, some people perform good deeds in the name of their religion, whereas I have never heard of a benevolent deed that a scientologist did.Ty wrote:
People's ignorance is forcing me to repeat myself. Just read my second post on page one. Most people here are just taken in by the media hype about Scientology.
Look, I don't like Scientology but I feel it should get a fair representation. It is a religion, it's beliefs are no more fucked-up than any other religion. It's a very wealthy religion so it can seem grandiose and puts on stupid things like award ceremonies and it's leaders have Gulfstreams - I'll admit this makes it look like a money-hungry cult. However I see no difference between this and the mass-marketing of the Christian faith. Those TV Evangelists and people like them operate in exactly the same way, are they just given less scrutiny because the Christian faith is older?
Usmarine is right. Why do we just pick on Scientology as an okay religion to bash?Don't be stupid, I don't ban people for disagreeing with me.Lucien wrote:

I feel you didn't actually read what I wrote. You might want to do that. People are calling Scientology a weird criminal cult but it is no different from any other religion. That is pretty much my point.
