What will they think of? That life can be created?CameronPoe wrote:
The ability to create something living out of something inanimate is supposedly the preserve of deities, no? Pulling it off will also give the creationists something to think about.FEOS wrote:
So a very interesting scientific discovery...and now we're supposed to do away with the religions of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity? Because of a scientific discovery?
You imply that religion and science can't coexist. For some reason, this all sounds familiar. The two concepts are not mutually exclusive, Cam.
It's been done. I wouldn't recommend it.CameronPoe wrote:

Humans are on the verge of artifically creating life. You can transport your torahs, korans and bibles to the nearest recycling centre at your earliest convenience.

I will take a half dozen of these though ^^..

There is that moment in Dr. Strangelove, when the doomsday weapon's inevitable ignition/explosion/destruction of the world, is reconciled as a potential positive. When they talk, and raise an eyebrow, about bringing girls (hot girls) down into the bunker and having a very positive hottey to man ratio. That pic brought that scene to mind.

The group hopes eventually to use engineered genomes to make organisms that can produce clean fuels and take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
its called a tree. we have those already.

Yeah pretty much.RAIMIUS wrote:
Recoding genetic material is not "creating life." We still can't quite create life.
Science does not disprove religion, nor has it proved any religion. (That's why they are called 'faiths')

Trees are big and take up a lot of space. Bacteria are small therefore use little space. Trees take time to grow big. Bacteria divide like crazy and in very little time. That application is about efficiency and speed.twiistaaa wrote:

The beginning of the extinction of the human race.
Theres some things that shouldn't be fucked around with.

Forget cloning... I want to build a better human...
haha, yeah despite popular opinion, women don't actually like to be ripped apart.Dersmikner wrote:

it that not just as dangerous ? they release this, bacteria it grows keeps consuming all the carbon dioxide, all the trees and plant die from lack of carbon dioxide, and we starve to death. genius idea !SenorToenails wrote:
