This is what is wrong with Western youth. It is so incredibly "deep" it's shallow as all get out. It encourages shallow people to think they have broad thoughts, furthering our societal sense that every kid deserves to feel great about everything they do and that negative reinforcement turns kids into criminals.

At the same time it makes people who actually want to talk legitimately about some of these "emo" topics be labeled and shunned as emo by the rest of the population. I have seen people say really rather profound things and just get shot down without a second thought as being an emo pussy.

I don't think this is just a normal rebellious fad, I really think it's a cancer in our society.
That video scares me...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I like emo music (and almost every other kind of music), and I suppose some could say I dress a bit like an emo, but I don't give a fuck. I know I'm not.

But if we're getting technical, emo means emotional right? So therefore, everyone is emo

wikipedia wrote:

Emo (pronounced /ˈiːmoʊ/) is a style of rock music which describes several independent variations of music with common stylistic roots. Such use of the term has been the subject of much debate. In the mid-1980s, the term emo described a subgenre of hardcore punk which originated in the Washington, DC music scene. In later years, the term emocore, short for "emotional hardcore", was also used to describe the emotional performances of bands in the Washington DC scene and some of the offshoot regional scenes such as Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Last Wish, Beefeater, Gray Matter, Fire Party, and later, Moss Icon. (In more recent years, the term "emotive hardcore" entered the lexicon to describe the period.)

Starting in the mid-1990s, the term emo began to refer to the indie scene that followed the influences of Fugazi, which itself was an offshoot of the first wave of emo. Bands including Sunny Day Real Estate and Texas Is the Reason had a more indie rock style of emo, more melodic and less chaotic. The so-called "indie emo" scene survived until the late 1990s, as many of the bands either disbanded or shifted to mainstream styles. As the remaining indie emo bands entered the mainstream, newer bands began to emulate the mainstream style. As a result, the term "emo" became a vaguely defined identifier rather than a specific genre of music.

Not many emo bands sound like females.  I dunno what some of you are talking about. Coheed and Cambria sounds like a female lead singer, but I don't listen to them.

Coheed and cambria sound castrated, not female.

Emo sucks. They can't write emotive to save their life, can't play instruments worth crap, and have no sense of style. Heavy metal FTW. Particularly classic metal.
The 80s produced some of the best music ever. Admittedly, most of the music back then sucked, but the colander of time has sifted the awesome from the chaff.

The only good "Emo" is two bands from the 80's and it really wasn't emo more like hardcore punk mixed with emotional lyrics, but people consider them "Godfathers of Emo"

---> Fugazi and Rites of Spring thankfully both of the bands discredit being called that.
