I got a new computer (vostro 1700 with every option under the sun, 94% of which suck ass) but I HATED the Outlook 2007 so I installed Outlook 2000, which is what I have on this computer, and I can't get the damned data to transfer over. I want to move my email messages, my settings, my folders, my rules... basically the whole shooting match.

I had a guy come in to move everything over, and (1) only half my shit got to the new computer, (2) he put all my shit in that Outlook 2007 which I refuse to use, and (3) he charged me 601 fucking dollars for the trouble at which time I told him to haul ass. I bought Outlook 2000 myself and can't get the data over.

I'm willing to pay someone to help me with this. I just want to basically move all my Outlook shit (rules, emails, settings, calendar, blah, blah, blah) from this computer to the new one. HELP!!!

P.S. Don't say Microsoft PC Relocator that used to be AlohaBob. I have it and can't get the motherfucker to work.

Thanks in advance,

Ders

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, copy the contents of the Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 .pst file to a .pst file that has not been converted to the Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 Unicode format.

To copy information from a Unicode-formatted .pst file to an ANSI-formatted .pst file in Outlook 2003 or in Outlook 2007, follow these steps.

Note To follow these steps, you must use a .pst file from an earlier version of Outlook.1. Start Outlook.
2. On the File menu, click Data File Management, and then click Add.
3. Click Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (PST).
4. Click OK.
5. Click OK to accept the default name, and then click OK again.

Outlook 2003 now creates a new .pst file that is based on the earlier .pst file and maintains the ANSI formatting for that .pst file.
6. Click Close.
7. At the bottom of the navigation pane, click Folder List.

In the navigation pane, you now see the new .pst file.
8. Drag the information from your existing Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 folders to the new .pst file. You may also use the Import and Export Wizard on the File menu to move the information from your existing Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 folders to the new .pst file.
9. In the navigation pane, right-click the new .pst file, and then click Close "file_name".
Note E-mail messages or other items that contain Unicode characters will not be copied to the new .pst file.
This worked for me a few months ago.

What the fuck? Thanks for the help but that might as well have been in hieroglyphics. Are you kidding me? Can't somebody take a credit card over the phone for payment and just log into my computers somehow and do this shit? do you think the Geek Squad could do it? That's my general answer for all things computer.

Sweet. Geek Squad it is. They said if I drop it off on Friday on my way to Vegas they can have it ready Monday for work. As in all things in life, you don't have to be a genius, you just have to know who the geniuses are...

Shit no I don't... I can't do it myself without a shit-ton of work and honestly I can make more doing what I do for a living for the same amount of time that it would take me to do the computer shit, and pay less than what I'd make. I'm not into wasting money but if I can work for 4 hours and make $400 it makes sense to pay someone else $200 to spend the 4 hours doing it. Net positive return. I do pay someone to do my grocery shopping though. Same theory.

there is nothing difficult with KenJennings post.  it would take you all of ten minutes to do it.  avoid the geek squad if you value your data...

just follow the numbered steps.  forget all the techie babble, and just do what it says... should be pretty easy imo.
