Okay, Here is the question!  I am building a gaming system.  This means the system will only be used to play on line games, 99.9 % BF2.

I am going to use Windows XP because it works for me and I hate Vista!!!!!!!!!   Any one out there with advice on whether I should use HOME or PROFESSIONAL?

Please don't tell me I should use Vista or another OS.  Thanks.

Does professional support 64bit, because if your going to have a 64bit processor I would get it. Also you can have more memory with professional if its 64bit.

Home edition. Pro is for networking 2 or more together for file sharing. If it's just for gaming, I'd save the extra $100 pro will cost you.

My system will be a 32 bit not 64.  Any ideas on where the best place to by XP Home?

If you're American, try this

Thanks, Havok, I am American.  I just bought my entire rig from Newegg.  Will I be losing much by buying OEM?

I'd rather save the $300 Pro would cost me, and install XP Pro.

No problem.  The OEM version just means you can only install it on one computer.  However, if you happen to mess up Windows and need to reinstall it, it will still work so long as you haven't changed the motherboard since the first time you installed Windows.

Really?  I was always told that Microsoft registers the OEM copy with a specific motherboard.  My mistake.  Disregard the last part of my previous post.

XP pro is 150 bucks OEM...  Home should be fine for what you want to do... just use NTFS... not FAT32

I couldn't survive with XP Home. It's so limited.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I didn't the first time I tried on my newer computer; the second it hated me.

home is for people who don't care about file sharing or security.  pro has much better tools for contolling the security policy of the system and using full-blown ntfs permissions.  in your case, sounds like home or media center is all you need.

XP Pro, definitely. There are so many things you're used to do in Pro that suddenly you can't do in Home.
