Ive used Daemon Tools Pro for a long time and never had any problems. You probably just downloaded a fucked up version. Its very easy to uninstall also.

Plus fixed .exe's tend to interfere with pb.

For me i find that it isn't taking out the discs that takes a while, its getting up to get them from my bookshelf of games going back to Doom 1. So i agree with the OP as for using an emulator. I use Daemon Tools Pro. Works great, and it isn't annoying like Power ISO.
