Actually I do. I was a US Marine for 8yrs and severed over in Iraq. I had friends die over their, and if we give in to these bastards then they will have died in vain.

I think it's safe to say there's the full range of the type of "enemies" our forces fight in Iraq. Some are people like you and me who'd gladly take up arms and bombs against an occupier, some are coerced victims of political pressure, some are willing citizens, some are imports from other countries.

What matters is... who is the real enemy among them? I certainly have NO beef against any Iraqi avenging deaths in his family or neighborhood or widows doing the same thing. I feel no more sympathy between the US serviceman or woman occupying their land than I do for the Iraqi patriot defending his land when either of them die. It sucks that national pride is more important than life.

I can't for the life of me understand how this tactic hasn't turned the entire population of Iraq against them. As I understand it, the culture views those with disabilities as pure and innocent, to be protected at all costs.

Regardless, it's sickening. Attacking military targets is one thing. Attacking civilians is another. Strapping bombs to disabled people and blowing them up in the middle of a bunch of civilians is the absolute lowest of the low. There is a special place in hell for these assholes, and I hope they get there soon.

If a soldier or freedom fighter truly ponders the greater philosophical scope of his or her actions, and the subsequent consequences, then I have a certain amount of respect for them ...even if I disagree with the politics.

I don't agree with the killing of innocents either, I believe that people who do such things haven't truly contemplated the consequences of their actions.

I'd say it's far more likely that these people convince themselves that a higher, religious (unprovable) purpose somehow vindicates their actions. In the same way US soldiers in Iraq might keep telling themselves that they're "saving American lives" by carrying out bombing missions or whatever; it's just a lame way of comforting yourself for doing something horrible.
