hello everybody.

i'm gonna be on the road alot this semester because of state competitions and what not. I'll be in the bus for about 5-6 hours at least 4 times. I need something to do! so...DS or PSP? give me your opinion

right now i'm leaning towards ds cuz of the price (129.99)

can you:
-list the pros and cons of both
-list some good games for your choice
-and...tell me why i can't find a DS anywhere...they're all solde out. I don't pay much attention to portable game consoles.

The DS seems a lot more fun... I can't say I have too many games for my PSP. The PSP is a far more versatile system though if you put custom firmware on it... since you can use emulators. Basically you get every good SNES and NES and Genesis game.

I was strongly considering the same thing. I've got $130 worth at Gamestop because I turned in my GBA and a bunch of games.

I'm going to go with the PSP. I'd like to use it as a media device (I don't have an mp3 player), as well as a gaming machine. Also, my brother has one and it looks really cool and the graphics are great. Plus, I'm really leaning towards it because it's got more adult-oriented games, whereas the DS is more kid stuff. I enjoyed my GBA and the Pokemans and Advance Wars and stuff, but now I'm ready to move on. Also, I'm a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, so I'm looking forward to finally getting my hands on Acid and Portable Ops. And with the new release of the Slim PSPs, it makes now a good time to buy.

I've got a list of games that I'm going to get (! = definitely getting as soon as I get PSP, ? = possibly getting at some point in time, but not sure)

Daxter (comes with bundle)
Tekken Dark Resurrection !
Burnout Legends !
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories ?
GTA: Vice City Stories
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
SF: Logan's Shadow !
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops !!
MGS: Portable Ops+ ?
Lumines !
Wipeout Pure ?
Metal Gear Acid !
MGA 2 ?
Parappa the Rapper !
Manhunt 2

And I'm sure there are many more out there that I want to get but haven't found yet.

All in all, the main selling points for me are:
-Will also serve as an mp3 device
-More mature games
-Loads of customization with hacked firmware (be able to play all those old GBA games I got rid of!)

I'm pleasantly surprised with this thread. I guess BF2 isn't a game that loads of Nintendo fanboys would play. I was seriously expecting loads of posts recommending DS, even though it is obviously more failer than PenisP.

Wow Ds By far. I have owned a PSP and everyone of my friends including me have hated it, i no longer have it but i have my beautiful ds. Yellowman you wont regret the cheeper ds and it will definatley grow on you more than that dumb psp

I have both, sorta. For durability, get the DS Lite. The PSP is far more fragile. My PSP's left control stick is wacked, so it's basically out of commission. Games look and sound nicer on the PSP though. Just think of the PSP as an ultra-portable PS2. Overall, I prefer the DS because of its durability and better battery life for travel.
