What are your thought on this? http://www.rawfoodinfo.com/catalog/sup_ … nclay.html

http://terramin.com/

I'm wondering why it's not more talked about and more popular. I heard about it on Discovery channel a while back.

Why would I want to drink clay?  That is probably why it isn't popular.

most animals eat a little bit of dirt from time to time, biologists call it "geophagy." depending on the dirt, it can neutralize acids, provide nutrients, and detoxify poisons. the same way we crave other foods when we lack their nourishment, some people have felt compelled to eat bits of clay because of the noticeable benefits (or because they are just weird).

our diets today are far less diverse than they were for the 95% of existence that humans spent as hunter gatherers. in the distant past we ate little bits of all kinds of things throughout our year's long walks. many of our health problems today stem from the fact that we live on relatively few food sources compared with our diverse nutrient intake throughout most of human evolution. there are still natives alive today in remote areas whose medicine men/women can reliably identify thousands of different plants and name their traditional uses. if you have the opportunity to eat random foods go for it, modern science has hardly begun to identify the nutritional and medicinal value of most food items, there are simply too many, and the science is extremely unprofitable because all these traditional resources are largely impossible to patent and therefore not "worth" the intense analysis that corporations will afford for synthetic chemicals that can be monopolized.

Your asking people why a bottle of clay isn't popular as a food item.  Yes, it may have nutrional benefits, but its still a bottle of dirt, im not going to willing eat it for the small benefit it provides.  Rather eat fruits and veggies like I do normally then some pricy bottle of clay.

Also like to point out there a whole mess of products that claim the same thing from different sources, like fishoil capsules and what not.  These miracle supplements are everywhere, and I personally don't trust any of them.

Most protein shakes "taste like clay", I don't want to imagine what real clay tastes like.

Still uh, it seems interesting I guess.

They make Terramin Tablets

However, modern agricultural practices jeopardize our health. Our farming techniques use the soil over and over for high yield mass production, depleting the soil and the crops of vital essential elements. As soil health declines, crop health falters and farmers become increasingly reliant upon synthetic petroleum-based fertilizers to artificially replenish the soil with nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium (NPK); only three essential elements. The tradeoff for adding synthetic enhancers is that the living soil remains deprived of naturally occurring bacteria that produce nitrogen, thus the soil is dying and crops actually become dependent on artificial fertilizer to sustain life. Aquifers are now contaminated with nitrates that were leached from farmlands. The combination of leaching from rain and irrigation, overuse of the land, and chemical fertilizers deteriorates the level of nutrients in our soil. As a result, most of the food grown is deficient in trace mineral elements. The few trace mineral elements that remain are removed during processing, for example in the milling of wheat.

Where do you think humans get the minerals they need from? Anyone know about the body's chemistry, what it consist of and what is needed to live?

What minerals do you think your getting from eating the vegetables that you do?

I'll stick to my cod liver oil tablets. You can even OD on that shit and nothing will happen, as I have personally tried (don't ask). Infact, I'd say it did me good. Can't have enough Vitamin A (or well....you can....)
