What would be the sound quality difference between

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … amp;tool=3

&

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =SP-046-LG

Used with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty 7.1 Champion Series Sound Card

Noticeable difference?

Worth spending alot more money on?

I have a €30 euro logitech head set, and a creative 2.1 speakers for around the same price. Both have a good sound quality, so I don't really see the point in spending that much money on speakers.. Go buy yourself some lacoste/hugo boss/tommy hilfigger clothes.

Less expensive: 135w.
More expensive: 210w + 70w.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

My ultimate goal is to get a big screen TV for my wall so I would like a really nice set of speakers for them.

I could use those expensive ones for the PC and TV?

I was at a party and some guy had 4 small ish speakers hooked up to some sort of Box thing, it was small and had loads of buttons and knobs on it. Like what you see in recording studios. He had his IPOD hooked up to it, and it sounded fucking amazing.

I want something that sounds amazing and can be hooked up to a big screen Plasma or LCD and PC.

I doubt a 54.99 system is going to do that... or sound that great.

5.1 is overrated if you don't actually have them surrounding you, for example there is no way in my room I can have a proper 5.1 setup so I have all 5 speakers on my desk. Pretty useless, going to get a logitech z-2300 instead soon.

Afraid I only have £300 for speakers. $600.

That should be more than enough.

lol, yea. Actually, these are technically audio monitors, they sound best (good at all) when you are sitting perfectly in their 'sweet spot"...

As far as 2.1 goes, try a JBL or Bose.... I think I saw the M-Audio BX5a's on newegg, actually.....

Bose are best full stop, that set will shit on any of the pants Logitech or Creative turn out

I think they do a higher 2.1 set, the campanion 5 but I think it breaks your £300 budget, can't check with the UK site dead and the US one doesn't really give you a true idea of the UK price (that companion 3 set is ~£199) have a look when it's working again.

And they can be used with X-FI?

Comp 5 set doesn't use the sound card at all, it's USB, and is better off for it, no PC sound card really does that great a job of delivering audio compared to the technology used in this stuff, I think the comp 3 set is a normal set of speakers that would be fine in an X-Fi.

I am thinking of the Comp 5.

Will they really sound that good with just USB?

What's up with all the boseLove? WHILE THEY NO DOUBT PRODUCE BETTER QUALITY HARDWARE THAN MOST, I have heard lots of true audiophiles say they're not worth it in their category and there are superior alternatives.

You say it like USB is shit lol, it handles audio data (or any data for that matter) far better than an antiquated phono jack.

You wont find one for less than 1k and they probably don't make PC audio systems either.
