I want this to be a poll only and no posts/replies so that this will be just straight answers.

Do you think that the current US Social Security program should be continued as it is today?

You may bump this if desired by posting Bump.

I do need a clarification why the non-US voters are included - does the program have some impact internationally?

Also, a point - the boomers are beginning to retire, so although there's the Social Security debt to cover, remember there's going to be the largest redistribution of wealth in history from the old to young which in fact will help pay the debt (aka the young will pay off the debt with their money).

SS is inefficient, but that word can almost always be used to describe the entire government. Really, with the way the world works, the way our government works, I doubt it would get more efficient, possible it would get LESS efficient.

Perhaps because this forum is international? Besides which, we Americans love to point out issues and inconsistencies in other countries, so tell me why it can't be reciprocated?

Well, duh.  No shit.

Let me clarify - are you saying that US' social security problems will be viral and be an international problem in terms of the global economy?  Or are you saying something else?

Far be it from me to actually ask for a clarification...I must be an asshole.

duh, of course your an asshole, you're from Texas

Bump: I've been a "Republican" but I simply consider my self to be a conservative - independent guy. I have looked  into becoming a priest so that I don't have to pay SS and Income taxes, but you actually have to have a congregation to be qualified, so i gave up on the idea
I would vote for Hillary or Obama if they stopped the IRS and changed what I have to pay for SS, but none of that is going to happen

It has nothing to do with international issues. But this is an international forum and people like to butt-in on other countries policies. I just put the Non-US citizen up there to see what people in other countries think about the US's SS program.

I'm not going to get my social security, so I'd like out of the system.
