I just bought a '89 Volkswagen Golf II Manhattan, for the most bizarre price of only 600 euros. Everything on the car is bloody original, except for the GTI grill. I've seen new cars in lesser condition than this one.

So, are there anymore Golf drivers on this forum, for love the authentic Golf (Tuning a classic is such a big NO). If so post ya pictures!

[Mine will follow tonight]

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I sold my -97 GTi 2.0 last summer. It almost drank as much as oil as gasoline. The clutch was used and abused my some woman before me and so was the second gear. So I got fed up and traded it and some money for a nice tiptop -00 Ford. And the results you can read in my sig. All 16 valves. Fucked up. In less than 120tkm (the fooking manual tells to switch the belt after 10 years or 150tkm!!). The importer says "oh well, what can you do". The salesman says "meh". I'm in a trigger happy mood. With the Golf I forgot to change it in the proper timeline but the cam belt still worked fine until I changed it. So good luck with your new car B, and for the love of god don't trade it to something you Found On Road Dead.

I would drive my dads mk4 GTi, but insurance is £5000 for me jus as a named driver!!!

Which sucks.

Also he had to get the clutch replaced, £1500!!!

But it is a nice car:
metallic gold
Alloy wheels
Racing suspension
Recaro leather seats (heated)
1.8L turbo with fuel injection
N some other extras you can't get in the UK (we imported it from Malta)

Nope. It wouldn't be as popular as it is if it was.

There is a model with a 2.0L engine, but it performs worse than the 1.8. The 1.8 has better acceleration and fuel consumption

Recently had a 2.0 L Diesel over chrimbo while my Rover Mg was being repaired.

An excellent car, went like shit off a shovel and had more gadgets than a cockpit.

Gutted I had to give it back, that and a VR6 I drove about 15 years ago were excellent Golf's, if yours is anything like those you will be very happy with your purchase.

Drive safely.

Yes Golf II Mk2 series. It even has it's original steel rims including the VW logo

With a Mk2 GTI grill, featuring a double set of headlights, pics soon. I'll take my trusty eos and shoot some purty pics.

Damn, that must be hard to come by, I've seen hardly any mk2s around, let alone with that much original stuff and in good condition.

They're not that uncommon over here, but most of them are in a terrible condition, lots of corrosion on the bonnet joints and rear door.
But on this one even the plastic details on the side are still in the wax. I'm currently the third owner, guess those before me took really good care of the their VW

I wouldn't get a soft top in the Uk mate, just not worth the risk of some jealous barstar slicing the roof open as you have something that he dosen't.  Just a sad state of the society we live in.
