BF2 Expansion Packs ... or BF 2142???

Okay, which should I buy?

I already have Special Forces, so that just leaves AF and Euro.

But what about BF2142? Any good at all compared to BF2 and SF? I played it a bit, and it was interesting and different, but I didn't play on the net. Help?

EDIT: And if I get 2142, should I get the Deluxe Edition with the expansion pack? Just curious if the expansion pack is worth a damn.

2142 is good, a shorter lifespan than BF2 in general but still good enough to give you your moneys worth imo.

Easy really - buy em all

Edit: If you go for 2142 the $10 you pay for NS is definately worth it, you get new unlocks, vehicles and a new gamemode

Hm. I may go ahead and do that, then. I'll over to order from Amazon.com and get my folks to ship it to me, though. Amazon.de wants over €40 just for the NORMAL game. Shit ...

Another question: I run BF2 on Medium with my computer (without any real video lag at all, too), any problems doing the same on 2142 or will I probably have to tone the graphics down a bit?

Probably yes. Or just don't play on full 64 servers.

Ok --- Hold the phone now, though. I just read something about SPYWARE and ADWARE coming with 2142?! WTF is that about?

Thats new info for me ...

About lag in 2142: I often get massive lag when the two titans are to close together on 64 player and the AA guns spam eachothers shields

I'd go for 2142. You'll get a lot more game out of it than out of the hardly played boosters.

It used to be more fun, and as usual they messed with it in patches, but its definitely worth getting. I've not played it since the 1.4 patch so i can't comment on what it's like now, but it was great fun for a good while.

As for the spyware, it really isnt spyware. It just looks at your ip to see which country you're in, and displays adverts accordingly (bleah).

I've never got the verbal taunt to work. You hear it every now and then, but its not something you can willingly do yourself. EA's explaination of how it works just doesnt work.

The vehicle maps in 2142 are a lot more fun I think. The aircraft don't completely dominate. Titan mode is great.

However, one thing you'll have to keep in mind is that it is NOT BF2, and BF2 strategies won't work a lot of the time. I'm mostly talking about the going prone thing, but there's other stuff as well.

Oh the other hand, Great Wall is great, and Midnight Sun is pretty cool as well (EF+AF).

Oh, and definitely get BF2142 with Northern Strike. 3 great maps, 2 great vehicles.

I just bought the Deluxe Edition through Amazon.com. Cost me $28 USD. Then another $10 for my mother back home to ship it. Better than paying fucking €50 for it.

EDIT: The only bitch is that I am going to have to wait about 2 and a half weeks before it gets here for me to play it.

They are quite good but it is close to impossible to find populated server with map from them you want to play. You either have to play random map on a populated server or leave this idea.

Try and see if you can still register your current BF2 account name there!
You'll then get the verbal taunt in BF2, a free rank+unlock in BF2142 and a veteran indicator next to your name in BF2142.
IIRC, you need to have both games installed to make the taunt work.

Well, I did register my name back then when the promo started.
So perhaps the verbal taunt will still work when I buy BF2142.

Also, the 3 sound files for the taunts are still present in the BF2 folder.

AF and EF. Without a doubt.

But, if you are an infantry player, I wouldnt bother. Both boosters are vehicle orientated, kind of a cross between SF and Vanilla, but more on the side of vanilla.
If you are vehicle player, the MD530 alone is more than enough reason to get AF. And Great Wall is more than enough to get EF.
