All these threads about Islam made me think about the hate crimes stats.  I found the 2006 US stats and I was amazed by the number of anti-Jewish offenses compared to other Religions.  I can't believe anti-Semitism exists today in the US.  It came in second place behind anti-black offenses.  The FBI report says that out of 1750 racial victims during 2006, 1150 were Jewish, while 208 were Muslims.  I would have thought that Muslims were number 1 after 9/11.  There were 3332 anti-Black crimes reported the same year, 1443 anti-Homo, 29 anti-Heterosexual (lol), and 819 anti-Hispanic (not surprising).

Hate Crimes by Bias Motivation, 2006

I searched for stats in other countries but couldn't find any.  If any of you find some pls post them.

Conclusion: according to the FBI anti-Semitism is a bigger problem than Islamophobia.

I'll say that I'm surprised by that. But, inb4lowing says that all those anti-semetic Jewish crimes were commited by Muslims.

Well the US has like twice as many Jews as is does Muslims. I would like to see a figure that factors in the populations of the targeted group.

Hate Crime laws are stupid.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

Hate crime legislation is so damn quirky that the data presented could mean absolutely anything.

A more meaningful data set would be either per capita for both the general population and the minority in question and also as a subset of existing crimes of the same type (homicide, robbery, etc).
