BF2S Forums Mandatory School Spanish Classes Anger Texas Parents...

Sorry...this is nothing new. Just like usmarine, I was required to take a foreign language in high school (late 80's for me). For the longest time, Spanish was the only language offered. French was added later when they found a teacher who could teach it.

That fucked up language is just another reason not to like the French.

Hmm... I wasn't required to take a second language in high school unless of course I wanted to go to college. I had the option between german, spanish or french. So I took french for 2 1/2 years. The most I remember is how to say my name and maybe how to count to 20ish. I don't see why taking a second language should be mandatory though. Should be optional.

Im from Texas...and Its mandatory to take Spanish. But its crazy...my (ex)girfriend was Mexican, and Dallas is...75% Mexican? 50%? Its big.

I guess you need it...cause Texas is turning brown

Heh, Caucasian is a minority down here. (Still waiting for my minority rights.....Like a Caucasian only college? ) Any-who, I had to take 2 years of Spanish for high school. I don't think it really taught me anything unless I'm hired to count in Spanish... I think if they're going to make Spanish classes mandatory, they should start in elementary/middle school.

You should look into the history of that state before you make a statement like that.

I started Spanish in fourth grade, Ive had a total of seven years of Spanish, still can't speak it...

I'm just curious, but what harm could possibly come from learning another language?

this is what I was originally getting at.  To say something like proves no knowledge of the origin of Texas, or the people that were behind it.  A lot brown. 

I spent 5 years at Fort Hood.  Learned a lot about cen tex.  I loved the shit out of Austin and SA, but thats about it.  If I were a texan, Id be living in San Antonio.  Partied out there a lot.  I hated it when I first got there but I miss the shit out of that place now.   Except for your sports teams, I hate texas sports. sorry.
