Well my choice was French or Spanish. I mean, not really a choice tbh.jason85 wrote:
They have to take Spanish, they don't have a choice in the matter as to what language they want to learn.usmarine wrote:
I am confused. When I was in high school, we had to take a second language. I took Spanish. I failed it, but was no big deal since I played football.
So how is this something new? I had to take it back in the early 90's.
thats not it at all. the people in the article are perfectly willing to learn a foreign language, its just that they're racists and think everybody is illegal, and want to make it harder for them to live here by not being able to speak spanish.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Ah, I see. So, we are to accommodate them, when clearly they know that they are going into a country that speaks English without learning that? Makes sense. In Bizarro Land. I'm sorry, but if I wanted to move to say Germany, I had damn well better learn German. It's stupid for a whole country to learn to speak English solely for me.Ender2309 wrote:

I would have probably taken French if I had the choice. Then you can talk to chicks and they will be in love with you, lol.
"Kommen in mein Zimmer für Liebstund, bitte."
And again no one actually read the article properly.
It clearly says alternative languages are allowed, the reason it's Spanish mostly is because it's probably easier for them to find someone who teaches it. Big deal.
I had to learn a second language throughout all my compulsary education, I don't remember it at all but it didn't exactly do any harm.
If you all want the choice so much lobby your school to find a teacher who teaches a language you do want to learn.
