Just to throw a spanner in the works, here's a screenie I took on an empty warwhore server to measure the distance of my most lucky and spectacular noob tube shot.
In the actual ranked game it happened, I had my clan mate Dont_Shoot as our commander, IO, and we capped the other team out, they had one guy left.
On TS my friend said he thought he was near security office, and put the UAV up over that flag, our team assumes hes just walked off and heads north, scan becomes available and it turns out the bad guy is next to a bush, near the road east of Plaza flag (where I'm stood in the screenie).
I'm on roof of TV station, which isn't visble, as another building (the one with a sat dish on top in the screenie) is blocking line of sight, and as it's last guy, I put the toob into mortar-mode and let one off, turn round to get some ammo, and a second later I get the kill, type in something like "OMFG hahahaha range with the gl from the tv roof hahaha".
Turns out my clan mate was watching the guy in realtime via the sat. and saw the smoke trail come in from one side, also allowing me to ask the guys exact position. Must have looked good to the rest of the team as they had all done 180 and were just entering the north part of Plaza when the round hit, so should have seen a nice long arcing smoke trail too
It's not a live picture, but I don't take any pride in anything I claim unless it's true, and having someone I can ask on TS, "Did I make that shot?" is always handy. It was a fluke, but a one-shot, 185m, mega-fluke at that

Mine's gotta be on karkand shooting a shot when spawning on hotel and killing a guy running down from the closest USMC spawn. Don't know the distance but it was a very lucky shot.

Back in the days before I lost SF, I would make kills from half a map away in Ghost town.
I got a kill from the USMC carrier all the way to the airfield on Dragon Valley.

oh, and inbe4 blindidiots
look at the part of the screen where the kill messages come up, youll see it, and the GL kill on the kill log

No way! I've done that exact shot, but in reverse, me as Co. on roof of hotel killing some unlucky guy amongst about 10 milling round your location going for scrapyard.
