The situation over there is bad, Iraqi citizens are making several claims (true and untrue) that the U.S. tropps are abusive etc. So, our government needed an example that they are doing something about it. This guy was that example. I don't know what he did or did not do, but I'm sure alot of this has to do with him being a government scapegoat of sorts.

Try sleeping 5 hours total in 3 days, lying in a hideout paranoid and tired, when an Iraqi surprises you up close. And you might be able to put yourself in his shoes.
I'd damn sure take no risks if he has a weapon or not. The scenario is probably different from what I think, but you gotta change your viewpoint before you make a stand. And yes it sucks big time to be the dead guy too..
