He's served his time. If it was you, you'd expect the same.

Thats the point of the justice system, I know its hard for you to grasp, but that's how it works

This is the lottery we are talking about, not government aid. Everyone has a tiny random chance to win, and the money paid by everyone makes up the prize fund. If they're not in prison I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to participate.

But yes it sucks that a lowlife scum of the earth got lucky but you can't argue about said scum's right to try.

Yeah but I'm not, so I'm seeing it from an objective point of you. He's been through the justice system and has the right to play.
I'm not saying it isnt bad that he won, but I'm saying he has the right to play

Right to play yes, but he should not toutch a dime from that jackpot, it should all go to the victims.

That's an incredibly grey area right there.  But, IMO, what you say is reasonable.

EDIT:  BY grey I mean, if it were to go into a debate in the government.  It would be tough to push it through, but it hasa bit of mereit to it.

You all do know there are different kinds of "Sex offenders" right? Not every sex offender has raped or touched little girls repeatedly. Some just once out of desperation and dispair as they are confused, and many have paid their price to society for their mistake in jail. So why not win the lottery?

No it's not a grey area, once you've served your term you free to do whatever you want (within the limits of the law obviously)

so to repeat:

wowowowoowow, I think we should just stop for a minute and look at some things. He won the money fair and square therefor he can have it. Its pure discrimination if you put it up in any other ways. We are going against basic principles of the system here.

Of course I think its unlucky he won it but he gets it.

It seems that no one realizes that this statement was Rooster's original intent in posting this, not a debate over the morals of a sex offender winning the lotto.

The law is not black and white.  It is very fluid.  So get off your horse with that principles BS.

Exactly, its unlucky he won it, but he has the right to win it.

He served his time and now he's out he has the same rights as the rest of us again
