Money back? You people have to PAY for appliance installation?Ryan wrote:

Sheesh. Here we get it free, along with delivery. So convinient, especially if your christmas turkey has just made the fridge overclock itself and go into full 'ice age' mode.
Something funny I noticed about low paying jobs/Low skill jobs:
One would expect these people to be really good at what they do, because it is so easy. In reality, however, the whole reason they are doing what they are is because they're too incompetent to do anything else. Unless you happen to get an experienced incompetent, they will probably suck at just about any job you give them, including their current one.

Delivery was free, setup wasn't. It's really a matter of just hooking a few things up and putting it back into place.Skorpy-chan wrote:

$1200? Wow, that's getting pretty near top of the line. What did you get? (I'm curious because there was one at that price that I thought was good, but we couldn't afford it).usmarine wrote:
I spend $1200 on a brand new machine. The guy comes and hooks it up. I put some clothes in about and hour ago and walked away. Came back down and there is water all over the floor. The dumb fuck did not secure the clamp on one of the water lines. Fuck you... you dumb fuck. Dammit to fucking hell.

honestly, if you've ever looked at the back of a washing machine, you're pretty good to set it up. its not too difficult.
Kenmore Elite HE5t. The dryer wasn't that much cheaper either.OrangeHound wrote:

I am wondering if the $1200 one washes clothes better than my $400 one?
I bet yours sounds better.

Actually I'm weird like that. I like doing it, so long as I don't have to lift shit.

Can't hear a damn thing...even on spin. Plus I can do two loads at once...which may save money I guess in the long run???KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Speaking of front loading washers, I did a lot of comparison shopping and basically the $700 washer will wash clothes as well as the $1200 one. For the extra $500, you pay for (a) a color other than white or black, (b) some advanced cleaning features like steam, (c) more wash settings, (d) more flashing lights and electronic controls, and (e) some higher quality hinges and often stainless steel interior drums.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

For $400, you are probably talking about a top loader. Top loaders cannot spin clothes as fast as front loaders, thus they are nowhere near as energy or water efficient. Also, top loaders are harsher on clothes than front loaders.
Same here. I find that I am doing my laundry more frequently...lol. You probably need the "High efficiency" detergent. Make sure you use it.usmarine wrote:

Mine sometimes shakes...but that's if I put a lot in. It's probably a good 5-10 years old, I don't know. I got it off an old roommate. I probably would have spent the money on something that didn't make sense.usmarine wrote:

Yeah, I have a top loader. It's old too.OrangeHound wrote:

when it shakes open it up and redistribute the clothes. they shake when one side is heavier than the other.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Mine spins at like 1200 RPM. It's actually cool to watch it got through the different cycles.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

The biggest difference for me is the ability to stuff the washer completely full. It handles it fine. I couldn't do anything like that with my old washer without it freaking out.

Meh, you don't need very much of the high efficiency stuff at all, less than half a cup for just about anything you can throw at it. Go donate the extra detergent to a homeless center or something.usmarine wrote:

http://www.tidbitsandstuff.com/articles … hers.shtmlA front-loading washing machine needs a special detergent. It's called HE (High Efficiency) detergent. Without HE detergent your washer will not clean properly. Using regular detergent may even cause your front loader mechanical problems.
You might actually void your warranty if you don't use the recommended detergent .

I gave the washer and dryer to a veterans charity. Guess I should have tossed in the detergent.Flaming_Maniac wrote:
