i can dl it by clicking run through ie, but nothing ever pops up to install. when i click save, it says i don't have admin rights to do that. any ideas? i really can't stand using IE any longer.
Contact your school's computer admin and ask permission to install it.
meh. too much effort involved.OrangeHound wrote:

Have u got a usb stick? If so...
try http://portableapps.com/
Install that on your USB stick, and run firefox directly from that. Its good.

There are portable versions of firefox.
will do. thanks
You really should respect the rules of the network. Ask the staff for permission, and if they don't let you, you'll just have to live with it.
Yep this is the way forward. You aren't installing anything onto the computer as the applications run directly from the USB stick.ddenholm67 wrote:

Although in my school any unknown executables are simply blocked also, so portable's don't work neither.coke wrote:

Even Portable-FF doesn't work on our computers at school. No .exe/.msi/.cmd running of any sort. (and other variants) - even more a USB device.
hmm now why would i be paying them? maybe take a second and think about it.mikkel wrote:

you have to be an admin on the system to install programs.
My high school used FF anyway

Do like I did. Talk to the network admin and get it installed. That is what I did at work, and in no time I had it installed on my profile. It didn't take long to notice that more and more people were switching to it, and I'd say that almost everyone at work is using it now
So yeah, just ask the network admin. Sometimes asking is the simplest solution.

Opera
Obviously. He pays them for tuition. The point is that he likely doesn't pay them for the right to install software on the school's machines. Paying for tuition doesn't mean that the school's computers automatically become your property, just like paying for tuition doesn't allow you to stroll into the teacher's lounge and take a leak in their coffee pot.mint-sauce-41 wrote:
