...that stays with in that limit! Include everything down to the mouse and monitor.

and...GO!

mmm, karma to those who choose to participate

UPDATE:
Current choices -

Still need to choose a processor and find a keyboard (preferably similar to a laptop keyboard).

are you just trying to get others to build you a computer, so you don't have to spend time looking for what parts to have

motherboard
CPU
heatsink
GPU
RAM
PSU
mouse
Keyboard (even though a cheaper one would do just fine..)
case
monitor
speakers
soundcard
CD drive
HDD

That puts you at $1,865.87 + $42.93 shipping - $110 worth of rebates = $1798.80... If you need an OS too... + 189.99 = $1988.79.

If you don't need an OS, than get this monitor instead. (it has a 50 dollar MIR)

But then we don't have sales tax here in oregon... so i dunno how much sales tax would set you back

This.

To be honest, I'm not sure you could really beat that.

not really... you could get much better cpu for that price. And samsung monitor.

hint: It is Intel cpu.

edit: commie's suggestion is pretty good.

Although I would change mobo to Asus P5E X38 or Maximus Formula...

How long does that m15x last?  Was thinkin about that myself, the 17'' I think woule be silly to try and port around, but the 15 is just small enough for me to get away with.

Wow, so many helpful posts here, it's amazing!

Here's the setup I think you should get:

https://img184.imageshack.us/img184/9546/rigsetuplg6.jpg

After rebates, it's about $1632.

Add on:

$240: Intel E8400 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6819115037 (out of stock right now, which is why it's not in the pic)

$109 (after rebate): Logitech G51 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6836121012

Comes out to a rough estimate of $1989, after rebates.

The case comes with a PSU and that PSU will last you for years and years. The Thermaltake V1 CPU cooler I have there is also AMAZING. I have it, and I love it. And Vista...don't mind what the Vista haters say. It's amazing.

Honestly, my PC is fine with 2 gigs of RAM and I have Vista Home Premium 64-bit too. Sure, another 2 gigs would be nice...but I play games just fine with 2 gigs of DDR2-800.

I was looking into the m1330, seems really good. The only problems people have had with it are the long deliveries but its not the laptops problem, its Dells
