VHS to DVD-R copying?

Hey guys...so i have a VHS tape i would like to copy to a DVD. How can i do this?

I was thinking of trying to hook a VCR to my computer through my tv-tuner and maybe find a way to burn those video files to my computer but i dont know if that is even possible.

Does anyone know how this could be done...if at all?

I do this frequently. I purchased a WinTV PVR-350 and after a bit of configuration, was able to play VHS on my computer. From then, I was able to record it at VHS quality.

I am not sure of the model TV-Tuner i have but i do have one. Did you hook the VCR to your tuner?

Can you teach me how you did whatever it is you do. It is a copy of the Superbowl game and the tape is that of my future father in law and the last thing i need is for something to F up. Help me please!

Yes, via S-Video. I used WinTV2000 so that whenever I put a tape in, it played through WinTV2000 on my computer. Then, there is an easy record setup. (I found 'DVD Standard' to be the best quality after a lot of testing)

I used to do this some. I hooked my VCR up to the computer through the TV tuner card using RCA jacks (red, white, and yellow). I then would open a program that came on my computer called "Click to DVD" that I use to capture video. I would then just record the incoming signal from the VCR. Kinda weird when you using it to edit out commercials since there is a little delay from the time you hit stop or play before you see it on the computer. I went to splitting the signal so I could also see it on my TV with no delay.
