So I decided to throw in a aftermarket cooler (Asus Silent Square) to Overclock my C2D E6600 a bit. I got to 2.65 ghz (295 x 9) with my system being perfectly stable, but as soon as I hit the 300 FSB then it's just failure to load OS or BSOD (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL).

I've tried upping the voltages of my core and RAM more, doesn't seem to help. Voltage settings on auto or manual doesn't make a difference.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
RAM: 2x 1gb OCZ Platinum DDR800 RAM
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3
GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800GTX

Oh, and Prime95 keeps giving me the same error
"FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4"

Temps are fine at 2.65ghz, CPU is 24°C, cores are 35°C.

Listens in due to ownership of same CPU..

you may have to give your motherboard more voltage also as you up the FSB. I just started messing with Intel oc'ing so i'm not much help but i had to up voltage on the mobo to get much over 300. (I also have a P35 chipset.)

More voltage to:
CPU
CPU FSB
NB

problem fixed

how are you try to overclock, what utility are you using???

I recommend using BIOS for OC.

Using BIOS

I'll try to set my voltages manually for FSB and NB and experiment with it.

Let's see how it does.

I set all voltages to auto, and I synchronized some memory settings with a number that came up when I changed the FSB, and now I am running it stable on 3.0 ghz, around 40°C idle, 53°C under load.

IRQL is usually caused by too high RAM clocks.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yeah, that was exactly the problem, I put the clocks to the same as the CPU (or slightly under if the exact same wasn't an option) and now it's stable.

It was called "Memory sample multiplier" or something.

Set it to 800 and now its stable.

Got it up to 3.4ghz, it peaks at 60°C core temperature at full load with two Prime95 running torture test.

That's pretty good, right?

doesn't sound too bad. what are you using to measure temps? If your not using core temp, get it.

Everest, it shows the exact same temps as core temp does.
