Hey, av been looking at laptop computers and am very interested in the Alienware M15x.

However, in the UK, there going for something like £1500 ($3000), for the stock (all be it high spec model, relativly speaking).  They will be releasing, a cheaper, lesser grade machine soon, which is the one am interested in, provided I can get the WUXGA spec monitor, and there not gimping it by doing things like taking out the HDMI, I am almost certainly going to buy one.

However, the main problem is graphics.  I cant seem to source mobile graphics cards in the UK (specifically the 8800M GTX).  My plan was, there going to release the machine for £950ish, I was hoping to get one as cheaply as possible, and source the upgraded parts myself (saving a bit if cash).  Am familiar with upgrading laptops so theres little to no problem there.  But I just cant find them.  I can see, RAM, CPU's, HD's, you name it, everything except the graphics card.

If anyone can point me to a site that ships to the UK that has them, that would be great.  Otherwise, I'll just need to hold of till next time I head stateside.

Incase anyone is thinking, why o why would you want a gaming laptop, there to expensive etc.  It's simply not up for debate.  Am moving to london in the coming months, and till I can sort out my own place, space is a premium in my temp residence.  And I simply cannot have a huge tower with all my gear (am even having to put my big tv, and surround sound system in storage).  I am of the opinion 17'' laptops are probably pushing in size, there is apparantly going to be a 17'' version, but am not so interested in it.  It will never really leave the house so perhaps a larger one could be justified, but a good element of portability would be a great bonous hence why I would prefer the 15'' (15.4'' if we wish to be pedantic).

Thanks for any help

I kind of doubt you can get them. It'd be integrated onto the board, like all these high end portable graphics solutions.

Very few laptops support replacable graphics cards. However, some high-end ones have somekind of mobile PCIe-slot for graphics. Check if yours have that, I don't know much, but I know that the 8800M GTX uses that one.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

usually you can only get them as a replacement part from laptop manufacturers

After watching :

I was of the opinion it was possible.

I am aware, its not the same machine as the XPS 1730, but, considering it is a part that can slot out like that, I would of assumed, it was possible.  But like u fellas have said, cant seem to source the part :\
