I was recently thinking about JFK's speech at rice stadium and decided that, that was probably the most inspiring speech I have probably ever heard.

But do they write their own speeches? I know now, most people have dedicated speech writers. But I doubt that's the case 40 years ago.

Fuck JFK.  That asshole and his family get a pass on everything they did for some reason.  Trying to kill Castro thus inviting the Soviets to Cuba.  Which made life hard for many Cubans for many years.  Oh, and basically jump starting the Vietnam War.  I mean IMO he was responsible for the Cuban missile crisis to begin with.  Yet he gets all the praise for ending it.  Bullshit.

It's cliche to say it, but MLK's speeches... nearly all of them... are almost completely devoid of language that isn't inspiring. Plus, he was undeniably one of the best human beings of his time, and certainly ever.

edit: and Fodder, many republicans swoon over JFK as well... People loved his charisma, and you just can't talk shit about someone who was murdered. But yeah... He wasn't the great president that many people make him out to be.
