Highest I got my E6300 was 3.6GHz @ 67C under prolonged load. What chipset you using?

Your temps are very high. Never use overclocking tools, they tend to whack the voltage up way too high.

The FSB:RAM ratio is probably the problem. he currently has ratio 2:3 which results in having too high ram speeds. 1:1 ratio will let him OC to 2.8ghz easily.

Yea im sort of new to overclocking i dont know anything when it comes to ram, not to sure how to make my ram run 1:1 tho.

there. One of those values makes the ratio 1:1. I think it is the 2.0 but I'm not sure.

Making the dynamic value, the one that changed with that multiplier, LOWER than the fixed value (800 in my case, probably yours too, since you have 800mhz RAM) should fix it.

If course, 1:1 is best. But as close as possible, without going higher is best.

should i overclock the fsb to 340x7 to make it 2.4ghz and change the system memory multiplier to 2.0 at the same time or should i should i do the memory first?

I'd do it at the same time, whenever I change my FSB I change my memory with it.

you can do both the same time. If it still doesn't work, do the ram thing first.

I have some shitty Intel board, OEM, so my settings are locked too. Would pressing ctrl+F1 unlock my settings? Or is that just for Gigabyte boards?

Intel boards have all OC settings locked tighter than fort knox. So nope, you can't unlock them.

ok im back i put the cpu up to 343X7 fsb running 2.4ghz on cpu-z it says im running 1:1 now but it frequency says 343mhz it was 400 before is that ment to happen?

you can try different multiplier to find the right one to make your ram speed ~800 (2*400)

say i put the multiplier to x3 insted of x2 would i be running 1:1 still? so atm my ram is running slower then stock?

yes, your ram is running slower than stock now. Try the 2.5 first and see if the speed goes back to 400. that is 4:5 ratio I think.

Whats the go with ratios though is lower the better? 4:5 is better then 2:3 and 1:1?

or should i just overclock my cpu to the 2.8ghz like you said that would give me 1:1 and have the ram speed back. but then again i only have the stock heatsink.

higher ram speed = better. means the 2:3 would be best out of those but since your ram won't be able to handle that the 4:5 is probably the next best since that gives some room for CPU OC.

Stock heatsink can do it easily. Use the 1:1 ratio and make it 2.8ghz. You'll love it. My friends E6320 is running at 2.8ghz with stock cooler just fine. My E6750 could do 3.2ghz with stock cooler.

I might give that a go i cant really notice the difference between stock and 2.4, anyway i put the multiplier as 2.5 now the rams at 4:5 ratio at 427mhz now and its changed from 5-7-7-18 to 5-6-6-20 .

leave it on 2.0 and do 8x400mhz = 2.8ghz and your memory will up to just under 800mhz

also set your vcore to 1.375 and give everything else +1 voltage.

no need for extra voltage when going to 2.8ghz.

give cpu 1.375v and a little more for NB too.
