I'm looking for a new power supply.

Requirements:

Must be able to power an E6750, 8800GT, 2GB DDR2 ram, 3 HDD's, and a DVD Drive, so around 500-700w

Must be relatively quiet. The current psu I have right now is louder than my 8800gt fan at 70%.

Well on the cheaper side Id recoomend a Rosewill (Newegg only brand) although most people will suggest the well known and pricy brands.  I have a Rosewill 500w and not only is it very nice looking, it powers my Setup easily, not as demanding as yours though.

Amd Athlon 64 3200+
7600GT
2GB DDR2
3 HDD
A DVDrom/CD burner

My suggestion if your looking at newegg, Rosewill arent the best feature wise, but my 500w does just great, and its even Sli rated   only $50 when I bought it, still around the same price I think.

Seasonic S12 550HT or 650HT.

They make absolutely no noise at  all.

Corsair 520HX. Can't get more silent than it. Excellent PSU. I built a rig for my friend with it and it is total kickass.

Considering the Corsair 520HX is a Seasonic PSU, you can't really go wrong with either.

great psu.  I have one and it is silent and plenty of power.  I have it running an oc'd q6600 and 8800gt a couple hdds and a bunch of fans no sweat.

Just not as efficient as a Seasonic S12.

I would recommend the Seasonic over the Corsair, primarily because they are the same price. The Seasonic has a higher efficiency and more power, though.

Seasonic S12 sounds like a solid bet. Any recommendations under $75?

You shouldn't skimp on a PSU.

This is what you should get.

You need enough power to provide stability. Any 500-700w PSU below 100 is either cheap or inefficient. Remember that a more efficient PSU uses less power, which means you save on your electricity bills. Basically, you could a buy a $75 600w PSU, and pay $30 more dollars for electricity bills over the course of a couple years, or buy the $110 PSU now, and come out way ahead in quality.

Another thing to consider is that the cheaper power supplies are typically not quiet.

I know lol, ive been using my $30 575w ps for about 3 years now. Now that I have my new computer, it's the only thing making noise.

It works perfect, and has been for the last 3 years. Never a fault or fried hardware. It's just loud.

Oh, okay.

So have you decided on the one you are getting yet?
