got a link doomed?
17 inch is a bit big... that's what I have, and I only got the bigger size because of the options that Dell had in the 17 inch.mitch212k_2 wrote:
Is a 17" screen too big for carrying around at school? Or should I go for the extra Screen size?
17 inch isn't too much. I carry my HP nx9420 to university every day. Lifting those 3.5Kg is no problem. Most books I work with are heavier. Working on a big screen with a full keyboard + numpad easily outweighs the bigger size and weight IMO. I hate typing on craped keyboards. You will need a big bag for it though
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Well i have a 8600 GT not a 8600M GT.... but i can tell u that i run BF2/COD4/heaps of steam games and Crysis on High graphics (Not very high on crysis... i think my computer would melt... it struggles abit on high but i like the prettines )mitch212k_2 wrote:
Well that's what I planned on av but the more i think about my current P4 7900GS machine the more tempting it is to be able to use the laptop for gaming too .... plus I found myself a dell outlet flogging the 17's with powerful vid. cards for relatively cheap ..... anyone actually have a machine with an 8600M GT? How hi9gh can you bump the settings in stuff like COD4 etc? I've heard it's a very good card but have absolutely NO experience with laptops.avman633 wrote:
Yea, why not just get the m1330 like you were planning on?

Size of the bag wouldn't be too much of a problem ... and tbh the 4 or so kg it will weigh doesn't seem to horrendous when i put weight discs of the same value in my bagmax wrote:

AMD athlon 64+ 2.66 Ghz Dual Core 5200+
1GB OC'd 8600 GT
4GB DDR2 RAM
360 GB HDD
and i run crysis everything high. with reasonable fps.
Seriously, don´t by a "gaming" laptop. They don´t come up to the prize. I bought an Asus G1 march last year and to be honest, it´s crap. It did cost me 1600€ and I can´t even run Battlefield 2142 on all details high. Although the specs sounded good: Core2Duo 2 Ghz, GeforceGo 7700, 2gigs RAM. The only plus is its battery runtime of about 3 hours. Office work of course, no gaming.mitch212k_2 wrote:

Laptop cards are usually castrated. The have lesser pixel pielines available, and 90% have a shared memory, meaning they come with 256 mb of their own and take the rest from your RAM.
If you want a notebook for school or studying, by a cheap one for around 300 bucks, that´s about 15" (lesser sizes come more expensive) that can run Office 2007 good and spent the rest of the money for a bad ass desktop machine for gaming. You do most of your gaming at home anyway. Or by a car. Or a fridge.
