I did a search and did not get an answer so someone in the know help me out.

What is the difference between First Sgt and Master Sgt?

I understand the requirements for the promotion to First Sgt. I also understand that it is one or the other and that the ranks are not progressive.

Other than the rank insignia and the prestige factor is there any other benefit to having First over Master? Only asking in game not "real world".

well, the only difference is if a master sergeant and first sergeant both apply for commander, the first sergeant will get it.  first sergeants outrank master sergeants...but other than that, theres no difference.

No diffrence in game play, I think the only diffrence is on the commander rank pull. if you are a first sgt u will get commander pull on a master sgt cause ur rank is higher.

Also, if your sqaud leader leaves, the highest ranked player will fill his place. Still, it really doesnt make that much of a difference unless you really like playing as commander. But theres bound to be someone who outranks you anyway.

I like how eveyrones like "don't worry it only affects you when applying for commander" when in game, that's the ONLY thing ranks are for....

Does he have a higher commander score? Or higher total time as commander? Those may be deciding factors as well.

same rank=ya both have the same chance of getting it..
