I love TF2 and CS:S, and I'm glad I bought them, but whenever I use my mic, everyone's speaker systems are immediately muted with static. Can someone please tell me what's going on?

I assume your mic works in other apps ok?

What sound card u got?

When I got this PC and got an Audigy 2 ZS in it.... never go it to work in CS/CZ/CSS had to go get a USB headset

Basically it appears some sound cards use special drivers that not all games like.

I have no idea what causes that. Most likely a problem with the mic. I hate it when people's mics are like that and whenever they talk, everything goes mute and there's this low ringing in your ear that hurts really bad. I just end up muting those players.

Have you offended your God lately? Sometimes microphone static happens because of divine retribution.

Also, have you tried using a different mic with your computer?

I know this seems obvious but make sure you're speakers arn't on (feedback). I am also thinking of interferance from a mobile phone or wifi?

i had that problem with my old computer, and the problem was that my motherboards onboard sound was conflicting with the sound card. i don't remember what i did to fix it, it was a few years ago...
