8800GT not wokring right I think...help

Hey guys

Well, as some of you may know I asked for help about chosing a graphic card, so I took your guys' advice and got the 8800GT instead of the 8600GT.

And well, it's not performing right. I don't get it. It runs ArmA alot better. BF2142 is exactly the same, no differance, no change in settings. And it runs COD4 SP on 64 FPS in a fight, and 150 when I'm walking around looking at cool stuff. Then in MP it runs at 15-20 FPS. With 8/16 players on small maps! What's up with that??

Here's some of my PC info:

Nvidia GeForce 8800GT

1GB RAM

104GB Hard drive

Windows XP Pro

3.00GHz

So my question is....how come nothing is changing? I'm playing like I did before, on the servers I played on before. But with the same FPS on the same settings.

Yeah I sure have lots of money....

But if a 7600GS runs good like this. Why in heavens name would a 8800GT(!!!!!!) work less good?? And only online!

did you change your game's video settings? they might not have automatically changed to max settings.

ghz is a relative term these days. What kind of processor do you have? Also you need at least 2gigs of ram for descent online game play.

Your cpu might be bottle necking your graphics card if its a P4, also you need 2gb of ram for the latest games to be happy.

I wonder if it's expensive, well anyway thanks again for your guys' input.

I just have to lol now, I'm always like this. First I get my PC last year, and I'm like "Yeah my PC is the best" then I realise, it's not all that good after all. Now I get a good graphic card, and I think the same thing. Now I realize, my pc ain't descent till I get an extra 1GB of RAM in it... LOL

Well, I defeinatly have enough money for extra RAM though, but what about my CPU?

You guys know that if you have 1GB ram and 32bit OS the total amount of ram is system ram-gfx memory. So Brad, you have been running your pc with 512mb ram and that is not enough for modern games like CoD4. The extra ram will make a big difference.

I seriously doubt its the ram. I have 1gb with a 8800GT and sometimes maps cache slow-ish but after initial loading its flawless.

Hmmm, well I feel like a fool.

I wish I knew more about PCs and just built my own, damn it. I don't even know half the shit in my PC since I didn't pick the components, damn untrusty worthy parents. Well that sure cost em

EDIT: and me, dang, I spent so much money upgrading, and EACH time I get something good, like an 8800GT I need omsething else, and the PC guy never tells me...

Go to Start, Run, type in dxdiag. Should tell you everything about your computer. Except the PS and mobo of course.
