Every time I join a server my ping spikes up to ~400 and stays there for about five minutes. After that I can play normally until I change server. High ping won't get me kicked but every keystroke lags like hell.

This has only occured recently. Any ideas?

I have it worse, If I start up tf2 I have a random chance of the internet going down for 10 minutes. Its annoying as hell.

I usually have to go on 3 or 4 servers (sometimes many more) before I find one that doesn't give me instant connection problems the second i've finished loading.

It's just something i've had to learn to live with in TF2. That sounds like a similar problem.

Well, at least it's not as bad as in BF2.
I almost always have a perfect ping but I also lag for the first minutes.
