If you don't think he said it specifically to make people think he's muslim, you're out of your mind.

Also, the upcoming states on the Dem side are most definitely not favorable to Clinton (she would have to win 57% of delegates tonight to get an advantage AND would have to win 57% of all remaining contests to win. Considering the upcoming slate (Mississippi, N. Carolina, Wyoming, Montana) that does not sound possible for her.

If you don't think he said it specifically to make people think he's muslim, you're out of your mind.
If Obama really wants to disarm any implications of the name Hussein, he should just be up front about it.  He could explain to people that Hussein is about as common of a family name as Smith.

Then....  He could also point out that being Muslim does not disqualify someone from running for office.  He could explain that he personally is Christian but that, even if he or someone else was Muslim and running that it wouldn't matter.

In short, he could make the prejudiced feel guilty for even implying that a Muslim candidate would be disloyal as a leader (thereby winning the small Muslim vote in the process).

He probably did. But he wasn't the first person in the primary race to say Barack's middle name. He just was the first Republican to say it and the media was all over it.

The fact that he should have to explain anything just shows how ignorant the people voting for Hillary (on that basis) are.

Not to mention swaying pledged delegates to her side, as well as seating the Florida and Michigan delegates.

Explaining policy positions and business connections is one thing, but when it becomes plainly apparent that people assume all Muslims are connected to terrorists, it just becomes saddening.

It only becomes more depressing when they assume a name makes someone automatically Muslim.

If he runs away with the remaining southern and western states it'll be pretty hard to accomplish such a power play. Likewise trying to turn pledged delegates.

Either way I think if Clinton tries that (whether or not she succeeds) her political career is over. I don't even see her retaining her senate seat for very long under those circumstances. She'll be either without a party (if the Democrats explode over those shenannigans) or will piss off an enormous number of constituents and big party donors that might have supported her otherwise.
